Bravework Staffing Scam

Bravework Staffing Scam. Another General Worker Scam. Read more………

Everyone should be aware of a scam from a company calling itself Bravework Staffing. They placed a “help wanted” ad on the Charleston, SC, CL general labor forum about “Proactive general laborer wanted to work in manufacturing environment” on Monday 1/25/10. The ad states, in a nutshell, that the applicant needs no special skills to apply for the job cleaning up around machinery in a manufacturing plant, type and location unspecified. Payrate is set at “$12 for every hour” in the ad.

I sent an e-mail expressing my interest in this job to the CL address on the ad’s header yesterday afternoon, Tues, 1/26. A reply came back this afternoon or evening from “Bravework Staffing” asking me for more info about my hobbies, education and job experience. Never having heard of this company, I did some research. I Googled the name and came up blank. I searched through whitepages.com, yellowpages.com and the Better Business Bureau and came up blank all 3 times.

On top of this, the wording about the pay rate is identical, word for word as the statement from another ad promising extravagant pay for menial labor normally paying around minimum wage. In that ad, the poster states in the body that the pay ranged from $8-11/hr, which is reasonable at the low end and a little high at the upper for a no-skill labor job. But in the line at the bottom, where it says “Rate of Pay”, the wording is “$12 for every hour”. The mismatch is a sign of a scammer, as no legitimate company would waffle on the payrate like that.

Be advised, all, that, as far as I can tell, this is NOT a legitimate offer of employment, as I cannot verify this company’s existence through normal channels. I believe it to be a possible “phishing” scam designed to get personal information from unsuspecting job hunters in order to commit fraud and/or other crimes against you or in your name. If you see this ad in your area, DO NOT RESPOND to it; report it to CL and the proper authorities.
